Mission Opportunities
Burundi School supply mission
Burundi is one of the three poorest countries in the world. Poverty is their greatest barrier to education.
Schooling and professional training are only accessible to students who can afford to pay for the mandatory uniform, the school bag and supplies.
The public school requires these things and will kick the children out otherwise. That typically means the children will stay at home until they are older, and then end up in the streets and in gangs. The average family has 5 children.
Bonnie Baker and her granddaughter, Rebecca, are starting this campaign to raise $25 per child for these supplies. According to Bonnie, it looks like we can purchase the book bags here cheaper than in Burundi! The interpreter there tells her costs for goods have tripled in many cases since the beginning of the year.
The actual supplies will be purchased in country because the schools have specific books and geometry sets. If someone has a used book bag that isn’t too large, she can take those.
This is not part of Becoming Mature, so donations should go through Calvary. You can make your check payable to Calvary or give online below (choose the Burundi Fund Option)
This is what the Lord says: "Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord.

Nursing Home Items
Each month we collect items for the Nursing Home bags that will be given to the Nursing Home residents for Christmas. The July item is Magnifying Glasses. You may place them in the collection boxes in the foyer outside the Sanctuary.

A Support Group to help you move through the process
A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.
